Maniac's early life has not been the easiest, leaving both physical and mental scars. Thankfully, he found the Iron Punishers before things could escalate further, and he discovered a family he could rely on. As the VP, he works tirelessly to protect this newfound family.

Despite his deep affection for his club family, Maniac has grown restless, yearning for a family of his own – an old lady and kids. Little does he know that a recommendation from a fellow Punisher will lead him not only to assist a local center for at-risk youth, but also to find what he thought was beyond his reach.

Lark runs the Fortress of Bravery, a sanctuary dedicated to bettering the lives of the kids who seek refuge there, particularly by diverting them from gang involvement. Her own experiences with gangs have forever changed her life. Meeting the Punishers, and Maniac in particular, causes her to reflect on all that she has lost along the way.

As the club members get to know Lark and the Fortress kids, Maniac makes a concerted effort to get closer to her. In the process, both their pasts are unveiled, along with the daily threats she and her children face. Maniac is not the only one with scars and a troubled past.

While the Punishers work to eliminate the gang presence in their town, Maniac and Lark grow increasingly close. What they both desire is within reach, but only if Maniac and his club can eliminate the gangs stalking Lark and the Fortress before they can strike. Nothing, not even bullets and death, will stand in his way of claiming Lark as his Imp.
